Dafogey, Gary Cron, was born 9-24-48 in Whittier California and began listening to pop music in 1955 when my folks bought me a HeathKit Crystal set. That was it, I was hooked and listened to it whenever I was in the house. I even went to sleep with the headphones on my head. My folks noticed how much I enjoyed the music and later that year for my birthday I got one of the first transistor radios on the market. It was big and bulky but now the music could go with me. I spent most of my allowance money on batteries for that thing. You could steal my bike or my lunch money but don’t even think about taking that radio. That’s how my love of music began. When I would go visit my grandparents, they would want to take me to the toy store to buy me a gift, but I always ended up talking them into the music store for a record. I still have those records, they are my pride and joy. Since then, the music, especially the oldies have been a major portion of my life. Music can help you through the tough times. Play the sad music to match your mood and just when you’re lost in the music, bring it up a notch or two and you will be brought up too. Try it, it works. To be able to sit back and play the music I love and be able to share it with others is like a dream come true so sit back and let’s take a trip down memory lane, back to the GOLDEN era of Rock and Roll and experience those memories and emotions together.
While in Clovis New Mexico for the music festival, George Tomsco gave me this CD by the Fireballs and containing the song "Everybody should have lived in the 50's". After listening to the CD, I was blown away. I could say I finally found a song that I could use as an introduction for Dafogey's Diner and with George's permission this song is now the official theme song of Dafogey's Diner. Featured in this song are the 7th Street Legends, a name given to a group of studio performers who recorded with many of the major artists at the Norman Petty Studios located at 1313 W 7th Street in Clovis. The Legends include Gary & Ramona Tollett, the surviving members of The Roses - David Bigham & Robert Linville, and Peggy Sue. That's right, the real Peggy Sue that Buddy Holly sang about. I believe that all Rock and Roll fans should have a copy for themselves. Just click on the album cover and you can order a copy for yourself.
